Five Writers first met in 2011, having studied the Start Writing Fiction course with the Open University. Forming a writing group seemed like a natural progression. The group has encouraged us to keep writing and critiquing each others’ work.
We try to meet once a month. At each meeting, we decide on a prompt for our next piece of writing. Our pieces are written and emailed to the group prior to the next meeting, where we then discuss and critique each others work. We have all learnt to be better writers, and harsher critics, over the years!
Last year, we lost one of our founder members, Julia, but we remain ‘Five Writers’. It is very rare that a meeting passes without one of us saying, “What on earth would Julia have said about this!?”.
